Leg veins are prominent red or purple veins that can appear anywhere on the leg area. They are often confused with varicose veins, which may be raised, swollen or enlarged. Unlike varicose veins however, they are not harmful or painful, although if left untreated they can increase in number.
This condition may be hereditary or may be caused by excess pressure on the leg area, for example where a person has been standing for long periods of time, after weight gain or during or after pregnancy. Leg veins can affect both men and women at any age but are most common post-pregnancy.
We recommend Harmony IPL to treat leg veins. This state-of-the-art technology uses pulsed light energy to heat and close off the vein or veins delivering results in as little as 1 week. A course of treatment may be required to achieve best results, depending on your individual condition.
